Human beings have been
crushing grapes and allowing them to ferment naturally into wine for at
least 5,000 years. Unfortunately, in more recent times, to make their
lives easier and to increase production, winemakers, like other
farmers, have resorted to a range of industrially manufactured chemical
fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. It is usually
claimed that any chemicals used in the vineyards are killed off during
the fermentation process, but several recent studies have discovered
potentially harmful pesticide residues in wines.
But industrial agriculture
isn't only bad for us as consumers; it's bad for the earth. Chemical
fertilizers and herbicides destroy the natural balance of the soil and
the worms that give it life. Greener Planet wines are made using
organically grown grapes. They are produced by men and women who care
for their environment to be enjoyed people who care about the flavour
of what they are drinking.
Greener Planet is
committed to the environment beyond the vineyards. For every bottle
that is sold, a contribution will be made to projects run by the
charity Water Aid.
